Goodness guys! Can you forgive me for neglecting you again? My biz has branched out into Property Styling and gone berserk! Exciting times full of shopping, shifting furniture and styling. Its all super scary (spending too much money) but supremely satisfying when the property sells quickly and profitably (is that a word?).
I’ve had to leap out of my comfort zone, especially when it comes to colour schemes because everything has to be neutralish and practical (i.e. boring in my book). Consequently I have been working hard to add interest with texture, pattern and contrast.
My go to staples have become tribal or geometric pattern, fur, hides and sheepskins, timber, leather, wicker and linen.
For the main part, I’ve stuck to white, cream, grey, black and linen to allow for reuse in a variety of architectural styles and also because accent colours tend to move with the latest trends, in one season, out the next.
Contrast always seems to do the trick if things are feeling a little bland and rustic vases and vessels take the edge off when everything looks too styled. But nothing adds life to a space like plants and flowers, be it faux or real. I know I have said this before and I will most likely say it again!
Using these tips at home is easy and needn’t be costly if you’re prepared to be clever!
